Dentist For Good
The Dentist do Bem/ Dentist for Good project counts on the voluntary work of oral surgeon dentists who can help low income children and teenagers by providing them with free odontological treatment until they turn 18 years of age. The patients are selected by degree of necessity, through a triage process applied to children raging from 5th to 8th grade (which, according to the Brazilian educational system, corresponds to 10 to 15 years of age, approximately) in government schools all over Brazil. Check if there is a Regional Coordinator in your town (this option is only valid for Brazilian towns). The selection is made through a priority index which benefits those children with the greatest oral problems, the poorest ones and those who are closest to their first jobs.
The treatment done in the voluntary dentist’s practice has a healing, preventive and education goal. Nowadays, Dentista do Bem/ Dentists for Good gathers thousands of voluntary dentists spread all over Brazil- in our 26 states and Federal Distric. In order to guarantee effective work, the project has a main office that provides efficient communication to all people involved: the child, their family, the school, the oral surgeon dentist and the technical team.
