Dental Care Financing - New Action

Inspired by the creation of Muhammad Yunus, the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner, we intend to create a microcredit model aiming to assist the population who have no access to the specialized odontological services and who don't fit target population of the Dentista do Bem project.

A pilot project is also planned for 2008 aiming at the presentation of data for 2008 and allowing accessible assistance for most of the 28 million Brazilians who have never been to a dentist’s practice.

The work consists of the production of a documentary film (75 minutes) to be shown in national and international festivals, public and private TV broadcasting companies (in Brazil and abroad) and distributed in DVDs. It will show the impact of oral health in the lives of Brazilians, in a humanistic way, highlighting this kind of exclusion and its consequences. Modern cinematographic language will be used so as to cause impact in opinion makers and to insert this issue in public discussions.

Its aims at collecting data to be later transformed in an analytic report of updated information about the Dentista do Bem project and its impact in society. This action shall promote publishing and presentation in the necessary means with a view to a better understanding, promotion and validation in all the spheres of the model we have applied.

Its aim is to spread the knowledge of the Brazilian model to other countries, with its results and impact it has caused. It also aims at disseminating this way of transformation into other cultures, exchange experience and give new value to an example of successful enterprise.

A great health promotion action through persuasion techniques in health in a children`s film entitled “A Invasão dos Mutans” (Mutans’ Invasion). The film focuses on oral health and shall promote this issue to millions of people in Brazil and abroad. It also intends to show how important odontology is in promoting quality of life and to stimulate children to become transformation agents inside the family.

This shall be a high impact educational measure to incentivate good oral hygiene habits for kids who are assisted or not by the Dentista do bem project.

Green Dentist

Environmental awareness is directly linked to social responsibility, already valued in other projects. With Green dentist, Turma do Bem intends to mobilize Dentista do bem volunteers for environmental action. The project is in its planning phase, wait for more news!

The Project
This project was created by Dentista do Bem and GRAAC (Support Group for Children and Adolescents with Cancer) and it aims at helping those assisted by both institutions. It is a giant safe which was put up until January 2007 receiving donations by thousands of people in São Paulo. It offered the population with an opportunity to put their citizenship skills into practice through the chance of contributing in some way to the improvement of the situation in Brazil.

The Safe

The giant safe was located in the parking lot of a shopping mall (Shopping Eldorado), consisted of a box with several internal light spots, measuring 64 m3. Coins and bills could be deposited in the safe, and at the same time, people could contribute through the internet.

Besides Bridgestone sponsorship, the Safe for Good project counted with other partners who offered voluntary work to help this enterprise. They were: Apple productions, Rodrigo Ribeiro photography, Burti Praphics, MPM Propaganda, Neka Gastronomy, Player Digital Communication, RP Lighting, Vic Meirelles and WTF events.

The Safe for Good project ended up in 2007 and it has generated another action which is currently in place: some shops in Eldorado Shopping mall have joined this idea and still contribute with the institutions involved through the collection in smaller safes left in each shop. All together, they make the biggest safe in the world.
